Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 is a software application that runs on a server(s) and enables organisations’ to send and receive e-mail and other forms of interactive communication through computer networks. It is designed to interoperate with a software client application such as Microsoft Outlook and other e-mail client applications.
It offers integrated collaborative messaging features such as scheduling, contact, and task management capabilities. In addition it is optimised to run on the ubiquitous Microsoft Windows Server platform.
Exchange Server 2007 supports all the popular messaging protocols, such as: MAPI, Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3), Internet Message Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).
