BusinessCare helps Sentinel keep watch on their IT infrastructure
Sentinel Performance Solutions is the leading European domestic water treatment specialist. It provides a range of high quality products for the cleaning, protection and noise reduction of domestic heating systems. These improve system reliability, increase fuel saving and extend system life. Its products are recognised and trusted by heating engineers, installers and specifiers across Europe.
Formerly part of the GE Group, Sentinel became an independent company in 2006. Prior to this, all its IT infrastructure and support had been provided by the parent company. Initially the management at Sentinel employed an independent consultant to design and specify its new IT systems. This requirement was subsequently put out to tender and after a rigorous selection process, Nviron were chosen to implement and support the new infrastructure.
The IT platform now supports in excess of 40 users across three Windows servers and delivers all the applications required to run a successful and growing business.
After implementing the new infrastructure, Sentinel signed up to Nviron's BusinessCare support package, specifically designed for organisations that employ no IT specialists. Barbara Duke, Business Manager at Sentinel explained, "Nviron now act as our virtual IT department. They provide us with a single point of contact for resolving all our software support problems and where necessary liaise with our hardware suppliers on maintenance problems."
As well as dealing with support issues the BusinessCare agreement also means that Nviron consultants look after all of the other tasks normally carried out by in-house IT staff. This includes jobs like setting up systems for new starters and making on-site visits to resolve problems that could not be sorted out on the phone.
Covering all Internet connectivity and the internal Intranet, BusinessCare support removes the need to recruit, train and keep busy expensive IT staff and enables Sentinel to get on with the task of running its business.
Barbara Duke concluded, "Now we need to make only one phone call to get any IT problem solved. The Nviron staff speak in a language non-IT people can understand and they quickly relate to our problems and provide a fast resolution. Their experience and professionalism are excellent, meaning we do not have to worry about our IT investment being unable to support the business".
